Reitz 2009 Aldine Street, Roseville 645-2498 Date: April 6, 1993 Re: Request of Patricia Curtiss for special use permit at 1987 Aldine This is to express our strong opposition to the approval of the .special use permit for Patricia Curtiss to operate a beauty salon business out of her home at 1987 Aldine. Such a use of private residential property is most definitely NOT in keeping with the character of our neighborhood and is a practice we certainly do not want to begin to allow. Commercial traffic is encroaching on more and more residential areas in Roseville, and we believe that allowing such a special use permit will only serve to spread that traffic into residential neighborhoods even more. In addition, we are of the opinion that once a business such as that is allowed in even one home, it will have a negative effect on the property, and therefore resale, values of the neighboring homes. Further, if one homeowner is given such a permit, there will be no reason for denying other such permits in the surrounding area - and we could not be more strongly opposed to that prospect. Our neighborhood is a quiet, peaceful little aection trying to maintain its privacy in an ever-expanding sea of commercialism and the attendant problems of increased traffic, vandalism and crime. Let's stop the spread now and keep business in the commercial zones where it belongs, not in residential neighborhoods where we come home to relax and live in peace in quiet. We request that the application of Patricia Curtiss for a special use permit to operate a beauty salon at 1987 Aldine be denied and that the Planning Commission and the City .Council so act.
