~~ ~('\ci\ ~\

1993 Aldine Street
Roseville, Mn 55113

To: The Roseville City Council

As you can see from the above address, I live next door to Patricia and Todd
Curtiss, and I wish to add several comments in favor of issuing a special use
permit to Patricia.

First of all, I believe in the right to privacy in one's own home and individual
civil rights when one's actions cause no harm to others. Throughout this mess,
it has never been proven that any of the negative assumptions made by Mr. and Mrs.
Reitz, et al, have any basis in reality. Mr. and Mrs. Curtiss have complied with
City of Roseville ordinances as well as the arbitrary restrictions demanded by
nearby residents who cannot even see the Curtiss residence much less know them
at all.

My personal feeling is that if Mrs. Reitz got so many signatures, it is because the
issue was presented in such a way that the signees felt that there was a real
"threat" somehow to property values or "undesirables" in the neighborhood. This
is a one person operation--not a Cost-Cutters Hair Salon with 10 chairs!!! The last
time Mrs. Reitz called this house, she said that "City Hall" had asked her to work out
a list of compromises and get signatures! This "sounds like a "mission" from City Hall
that she is in charge of directing. This statement in itself could be misleading to
many residents. In my brief meeting with Steve Sarkozy he assured me that he
was not aware of "City Hall" doing any such thing.

If Patricia Curtiss has complied with the law, she deserves to be granted her
special use permit. If the City of Roseville ordinances need to be revised, that is
a matter for the Council to address.
