The garage side setback at Mr. Sandmann's residence is 14
feet from the side property line. He currently has a single
car garage and is proposing a 9 foot addition to the garage
bringing it to 5 feet from the property line.

4. The Minor Variance Committee unanimously recommended approval
of the variance. The Committee believed it was reasonable to
have a two car garage and indoor storage for lawn equipment.
The plan shows that drainage will not affect the adjacent
property.

5. All affected adj acent property owners have indicated their
approval of the proposed sideyard variance.

Alternatives:

1. Deny the variance based on the finding that no hardship or
practical difficulties exist on the site.

2. Grant the variance based on the finding that a hardship or
practical difficulty is present on the site.

Policy Obiective:

1. To insure that development occurs consistent with the City's
zoning ordinances and comprehensive plan.

2. To grant variances where hardship and/or practical
difficulties exist.

Staff Recommendation:

1.

It is recommended
Sandmann's request
Galtier Street.

that the City Council approve Virgil
for a 5 foot minor variance at 2895
