The additional land would allow the church <br />to expand its facilities. Although I currently live in Shoreview <br />just outside the boundary of Roseville (off Lexington just north of <br />the city hall), I was a Roseville resident for fifteen years, and <br />still participate in many city activities. <br /> <br />It seems to me that the proposed land exchange is in the long term <br />best interests not only of the church but also of the ci ty. <br />Roseville Lutheran serves the city well and provides day-to-day <br />facilities and programs that contribute to the quality of city <br />life. In a more intangible way, the city also benefits by having <br />a thriving church and enthusiastic congregation well within its- <br />city limits. Roseville Lutheran obviously is not anxious to leave <br />the city, and the city should not be anxious to have the church be <br />forced to look elsewhere for a home. <br /> <br />The exchange proposal provides the city with expanded park and <br />recreation' opporttmi ties, and allows the church to grow, in a <br />reasonable fashion. I understand the neighbors' opposition to the <br />proposal, for no one ever is happy about losing part of- an amenity <br />that has been' lh--one's back" yard for years. - However; such <br />positions--if adhered to all cases in the past number of years-- <br />would have prevented much activity within the city that has been <br />
