Dan McCarthy
7 July 1993
Page 3

ID1proved control of door closure between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am

The open door was identified as a major noise source in terms of sound level. It also appears to be the source of
low-frequency pulsating noise which occurs within the plant and which is easily radiated out of the open door
and into the community. It is therefore critical that all doors along the north side of the building be closed
during the nighttime hours (10:00 pm through 7:00 am). H additional ventilation is needed for that area, it is
likely that installation of another rooftop unit could be done in a manner that would create lower noise levels in
the community.

It should also be emphasized that opening the door even for a short time during the nighttime hours may be
sufficient to create problems. For that reason, it is recommended that the door remain closed for the entire
nighttime period. The blocking open of the smaller side door which was witnessed during a site visit should also
be prevented.

As we have previously discussed, it is recommended that no truck loading or unloading on the north, east or
west sides of the 1633 or 1675 buildings occur between the hours of 10:00 pm and 7:00 am.

Please let me know if you have any questions concerning these recommendations or if you would like more
detailed information relative to the proposed designs. Thanks for your cooperation.

Sincerely,
~~

David Braslau
President

---~

cc: Mike Falk, City of Roseville

mc:carthy.let 9301Wl
