April 30, 1993

To The Minor Variance Committee:

since moving into the house at 2265 st. stephens street in 1991
I have renovated the property which was quite run down for a
number of years. These improvements have included new siding,
new roof, furnace replacement etc.. I would like at this time to
excavate the front yard by widening the driveway and adding a
two-car garage.

The existing garage is barely large enough to accommodate a
compact car and at present we have three vehicles in our family
including a 1990 Chev pick-up truck that I use for snowplowing.
I currently rent a garage to store my snowplow as I do not like
to store it in my driveway and create an eyesore.

The widening of the driveway and the garage addition would elimi-
nate having to park any of our vehicles on the street, it would
eliminate my having to store my plow at another location and it
would improve the overall aesthetics of my home and property
which was my goal since buying the property.

I considered building the garage in the backyard but it would
have meant destroying a large old oak tree and the added expense
of a long driveway which would have used up a large portion of my
backyard.

I have included photos which show the small existing tuck under
garage and the retaining wall that I would like to replace.

Thank you for your consideration,

Thomas G.
