.

November 25, 1992

Mr. Rick Jopke
Asst. O:mTuni ty Developnent Director
City of Roseville
2660 Civic Center Drive
Roseville Minnesota 55113

CR~ II/A-
~ ~ úðY:t 1 /7~9:J-
~~ f(l-zö{8-<t ~
~~. ~rØ4 0cr(c¡a-

Dear Mr. Jopke:

In accordance with your letter of November 20, 1989, copy enclosed, I subnit
our request for a review of the above gra.md tank variance granted by the City
of Roseville November 13, 1989 to Indianhead Truck Line, Inc., for the express
:µ.Irpose of seeking an extension of said variance for a mi.rUIrun of an additional
three years.

The only product that has been stored in this tank since its installation on May
18, 1990 is diesel fuel for use in œr trucks. A reminder may be in order as to
what this tank installation is. It is a 10,000 gallon steel tank located within
an imperviœs steel dike, which dike has a capacity of 12,780 gallons, which
means if a full tank were to spring a leak, the entire contents wa.ù.d only fill
approximately 80% of the dike which is approximately 25% freeboard. The tank
and dike are painted (alrrent polaroid photo enclosed). Its installation was
inspected and approved by Dave Ackerman, Deplty state Fire Marshal Inspector.
copy of final report enclosed. If you were to call Mr. Ackerman at 432-4942
(office at hare), you would find he has nothing b.1t praise for this .installation
and wculd use it as an exat1ple of the safe and right way to do the job.

I nust point out that environmentally this installation is far superior to any
undergramd tank system, and when it canes time to rrove, it can be picked up and
rroved like a piece of machi11ery.

We will await your further instruction and if we need do sarething rrore, please
call me at 633-2661, Extension 120.

Sincerely yours,

Lester A.
