Re: Minor Variance; Driveway
Stephen and Virginia Leutgeb
3066 N. victoria st.

To whom it may concern:

This v~riance is necessary in order to replace the existing
driveway in its current dimensions. No increase in size from the
present driveway is being sought.

The existing driveway has deteriorated over time, with
significant uneven and cracked asphalt and concrete. In dry
weather it is unattractive; in wet weather its uneven surfaces
form large, deep puddles that children and ducks have been known
to play in.

The apron from the driveway to the street, which is not being
replaced, has a width of 27 1/2 feet. The width of the existing
driveway continues at 27 1/2 feet for a length of 33 1/2 feet.
It then narrows to 20 feet at the approach to the garage (seè
A.C.T. sketch attached).

The existing driveway will be removed and replaced, as opposéd to
only being "capped" or "topped". A variance to permit the
continuation of the current driveway dimensions will not
adversely effect the aesthetics of the property. The design
required without the variance, considering the apron to tþe
street is not being replaced, would be a narrowing and then
widening, sort of resemÞling a bump on a log ( ~ ).
This would require additional landscaping workãs~l, to fill
in the "bump". A down-payment of $309.00 was made in July, 1993,
for the asphalt work to be done as sketched.

Our interest is to improve the appearance of our property, which
then reflects well on our neighborhood. We wish to remove an
existing driveway whose condition is becoming an eyesore, with a
shiny new exact replacement. Nothing fancy or elaborate.
Nothing grandiose. Just the same old thing, only new.

Your consideration of this request is appreciated.
