The
Ramsey County Sheriff's Department provides law enforcement
services for the city of Shoreview, where willshire Ponds is
located. r have queried our records for incidents which occurred
between June 1, 1992 and December 29, 1992, at willshire Ponds and
adjacent areas. During that time period one call for service, a
suspicious person/vehicle/ incident call, came from a Willshire
Ponds address. Two calls for service, one domestic and one
suspicious person/vehicle/incident, came from a medium density
housing development adjacent to Willshire Ponds. These calls for
law enforcement service are not unusual and do not show any kind of
crime trend. Citizens of the city of Shoreview are encouraged to
call and report any suspicious activity; the Sheriff/s Department
responds to all calls for service and investigates each matter as
far as possible.

Some months ago the Pioneer Press Dispatch printed an article
concerning crime statistics in metropolitan suburbs; the article
showed the city of Shoreview as having the lowest crime rate per
capita in their comparison. crime statistics for eleven months of
1992, show that the city of Shoreview is experiencing a 12 percent
decrease in overall crime as compared to the same period in 1991.
Population density by itself does not always influence crime rates.
Many socioeconomic factors are to be considered along with
population density. The statistics for the city of Shoreview do
not show .that willshire Ponds, or medium density housing
developments, produce or increase crime.

ADULT DETENTION DIVISION (612) 292-6050

S~ðO

PATROL DIVISION (612) 484-3366
