Welsch, Community Development RE: BELTMANN NORTH AMERICAN NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS BUILDING Yesterday our Planning and Economic Development Staff met with representatives of Beltmann North American and with the Space Center, land owners of the Dawes Trucking site. The site is located on the north side of County Road B-2, west of 35W. (See the attached map.) Beltmann wishes to build its national headquarters in Roseville on the Space Center/Dawes Trucking site. The building would be approximately 121,000 s.f., including their national offices which are 14,000 s.f. The building would be 3 stories (30 feet) in height) and have a glass curtain wall front, with masonry side walls. . Estimated cost is approximately $5,000,000. Over 100 jobs would be located on this site. Thirty trucks would be on the site at anyone time. All would be screened from the front by masonry walls and the building itself. six months lead time is needed to complete current leases and begin new construction. Beltmann began as a moving company and has expanded nationally to be a strategic planner for business moving, a handler and assembler of displays and exhibits, a mid-point manufacturer's warehouse/distribution point for component parts used by major computer and electronics companies, as well as a relocation transfer moving contractor. The request for construction of this building requires a rezoning from "B-6" to "B-3". It is in an area north Genex, and north of the County Road B-2 Bridge, east of the Amoco tank farm, and south of the TC Freight and Ryder Trucks. It is isolated from the "B-6" Office/headquarters site south of B-2 along 35W and 36. STAFF REQUEST: Before proceeding further, the staff seeks input/direction from the City council/Mayor at the November 15th work session. Representatives of Beltmann will be available as needed.
