In February, the staff was asked to prepare new language for the City Code that would more clearly <br />address issues related to site planning and land use, parking, pedestrian and vehicular safety, crowd <br />management and access to public assembly uses such as game rooms, electronic game/device areas, <br />pool rooms, carnivals, and other similar commercial activities. <br /> <br />2. The proposed ordinance addresses the issues of concern and requires one special use permit and <br />annual business licenses as well as a setback of 1500 feet from the nearest residentially zoned area. <br />Existing uses will be considered pre-existing uses, but will be required to submit an application for <br />an annual license beginning in 1995. <br /> <br />3. On May II', 1994, the Planning Commission recommended approval of the proposed ordinance <br />defining amusement devices, areas, and game rooms, activities and regulations, and adding special <br />use permit requirements, with the further recommendation that the City Council add to the <br />facilitities' list all gambUng and gaming facilities as defined in the City Code. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation <br /> <br />1. It is the staff recommendation that the City Council continue consideration of the proposed <br />ordinance defining amusement devices. areas, game rooms, activities and regulations until the June <br />27, 1993 City Council meeting to allow the Finance Department to further study State Statutes <br />regarding gaming and gambling. <br /> <br />Council Action Reauested <br /> <br />1.
