City ordinances limit the height of privacy fences in the rront yard to 48 inches
maximum height. On comer lots, this standard is applied to both the front yard
and the sideyard facing the street back to the building setback line.

2.

Mr. Jahnke is proposing to install a privacy fence along his west property Hne
to screen the view of his neighbors garage. This garage was granted a variance
to be constructed in the front yard setback area because of the steep slope in
Mr Jahnke's neighbors rear yard. To screen the view of this garage, Mr.
Jahnke would like to buiJd a 6-1/2 foot taU fence to within 19 feet of his
sideyard property line, creating the need for an 11 foot variance to the sideyard
setback requirements of the Roseville City Code.

-,

3. The Minor Variance Committee unanimously recommended approval of the 11
foot setback variance to the fence height standard of the City code. It was the
Committee's belief that a hardship was created when the garage to the west
was constructed. Upon visiting the site, the Committee determined that traffic
visibility would not be hindered by this fence and that because the fence is to
be custom built, it will be attractive in the neighborhood.

4. AU affected adjacent property owners indicated their approval of the proposed
varIance.
