WRITTEN STATEMENTS FROM THE APPLICANT EXPLAIN- <br />ING WHY THE VARIANCE IS NECESSARY AND WHAT ~ <br />HARDSHIPS ARE PRESENT. <br /> <br />To attempt compliance with the City Code during a permanent <br />street upgrading and re-building to a point of 30' from the <br />Fairway Avenue right-of-way line, would to all intents and <br />purposes, be an unbelievable hardship. It would necessitate <br />removing a brick planter and yard light and redesigning a <br />driveway which, I believe would be impossible to allow <br />entry to the garage. <br /> <br />I am a senior citizen, widowed, living alone, on a fixed <br />income, and incidentally, just now recovering from a broken <br />leg, with arthritis and a severe back problem, so that all <br />of the work would have to be hired out, and this along with <br />a recent tax increase, plus threatening changes in Medicare, <br />insurance and Social Security. <br /> <br />There are other considerations, but I am sure you will agree <br />that the above hardships will suffice for the present. <br /> <br />-; <br /> <br />/e~~¿f:;;~~· ~£k-r-' <br />( Éthel D.
