Falk:

Thank you for your request für a copy of Shoreview's recently adopted
Shoreland Management rules. Excerpts from the Shoreview code are
enclosed for your review. The City of Shoreview concurs with your
concern that the Roseville and Shoreview codes should be as similar as
possible relative to Lake Owasso.

Shoreview's recently adopted codes are the product of 1-1/2 years of
effort which included public opinion surveys, review by several
committees, and debate at several public meetings. The final sections
were put into effect this past July. If you are not aware, the
water oriented accesory structure rules (boathouses, etc.) received a
considerable amount of debate including testimony from a number of
Roseville residents.

You will find, that the Shoreview code addresses the matters required by
the DNR in several different sections, rather than in one section as
preferred by DNR. Ye found this organization to be less confusing and
easier to administer. For instance, the Shoreland requirements, for the
most part, have been included with the corresponding components of our
standard code (i.e., storm water management, vegetation removal, erosion
control, on-site sewage treatment requirements, substandard lots, etc.).
The Shore land Management section of the code is generally limited to
those issues unique to shoreland areas.

If you have any questions, please call me at 490-4682~

, AICP

1l.Roseville
