REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

DATE: 6-13-93

ITEM NO.: B-2

Department Approval:

Manager Reviewed:

Agenda Section:

MF /tf~

~C21

Consent

Item Description:

Steven Rengel request for a minor variance at 1905 Dellwood
Avenue.

Backe:round

1. City ordinances require that driveways and parking areas be setback at least 5 feet
from sideyard lot lines.

2. Mr. Rengel currently has an existing black top side drive he uses for off street
vehicle parking next to his single car garage. This side drive is less than a foot
tram the property line. The house to the north, at 1911 Dellwood Avenue, is 10
feet ITom the property line and the garage is located on the north side of that
house. In addition, there are no windows on the south side of the neighboring
home.

3. The Minor Variance Connnittee unanimously reconnnended approval of a 5 foot
sideyard setback variance for Mr. RengeL It was the Committee's belief that
because the Rengel residence has a single car garage, that providing off street
parking was of benefit to both the Rengel's and the City. In addition, the adjacent
neighbor's home has no windows in that area of the house that would be affected
by the parking area.

4. All affected adj acent property owners indicated their approval of the proposed
vanance.
