REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

DATE: 6-13-93

ITEM NO.: B-3

Department Approval:
~~

Manager Reviewed:

Agenda Section:

~~

Consent

Item Description:

Jack Lewis request for a minor variance at 71 Mid Oaks Lane.

Background

1. City ordinances require that driveway openings in residential districts have a
maximum width of 26 feet.

2. Because of street improvements currently underway in the City of Roseville, Mr.
Lewis' driveway is not in compliance and requires a 5 foot minor variance. To
bring the driveway into compliance would require reconstructing the driveway to a
maximum curb opening of 26 feet.

3. The Minor Variance Committee unanimously recommended approval of the
variance. It was the Committee's belief that without the variance it would make
access to the existing triple garage more difficult.

4. All affected adjacent property owners indicated their approval of the proposed
varIance.

Alternatives:

1. Deny the variance based on the finding that no hardship or practical difficulty
exists on the site.

2. Grant the variance based on the finding that a hardship or practical difficulty is
present on the site.

Policy Obiectives:

1. To insure that development occurs consistent with the City's comprehensive plan
and zoning ordinance.
