<br />7 <br /> <br />Roll Call: <br /> <br />Ayes: Rengel, Thomas, Wall, Harms, Roberts, Sandstrom, Wietecki <br /> <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />(d) <br /> <br />Planning File 2683 <br /> <br />MAT Properties request for an interim use permit for outside storage at 1920 West <br />County Road C. <br /> <br />Chairman Wietecki opened the public hearing and requested City Planner Michael Falk to <br />summarize the staff report for tlús matter. <br /> <br />City Planner Mike Falk swnmarized the history of the site including the past special use <br />permit and interim use permits that have been granted. Mr. Falk pointed out that the <br />current request is for a five year permit to provide a headquarters for the trucking <br />operation involved in picking up containers from railroads and moving them to their final <br />destination. Mr. Falk recommended that the interim use pem1it be granted for a five year <br />period with the condition that a proposed 6 1/2 foot screen fence be provided along the <br />parking area. <br /> <br />Chairman Wietecki asked if staff had some way of keeping track of the site so that the <br />site is redMflagged in five years when the interim use pennit would expire, The staff <br />responded that through the computer system the staff would be reminded of the expiration <br />date in five years. <br /> <br />Chainnan Wietecki pointed out that the front of the property has been poorly maintained. <br /> <br />Member Thomas questioned the fence height and whether or not it would be appropriate <br />to continue the fence along the site property lines to provide better screening. <br /> <br />Chairman Wietecki asked what the design of the fence was and whether or not it would <br />be stained or treated. The staff provided pktw'es of a fence similar to that being <br />proposed. <br /> <br />Member Wall questioned why an interim use permit for five years and not some other <br />time frame. Michael Falk responded that the five year period is consistent with other <br />interim use permit requests and it is also consistent with the applicant's business plan. <br /> <br />Member Sandstrom questioned if the trailer parking should be located as far back on the <br />property as possible to be less visible from County Road C. <br /> <br />Glen Mischke, representing MAT Properties, stated that the fence could be stained if the <br />city desired, that the front area will be properly maintained, that a proposed use would <br />
