I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I 1.Ø Title A RESOLUTION SETTING FORTH TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR AND AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF FRANCHISES FOR THE INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF FIBER OPTIC CABLE, COPPER CABLE AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT OVER AND UNDER THE STREETS, RIGHTS OF WAY, EASEMENTS AND PUBLIC PROPERTY OF THE CITY/COUNTY IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROVISION OF WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS SERVICES. 2.0 Definitions For the purpose of this resolution and any franchise granted in accordance herewith, the following words, phrases, and their derivations shall have the meaning given herein unless otherwise specifically provided for in this resolution or the franchise granted in accordance herewith or unless the context clearly indicates otherwise or unless such meaning would be inconsistent with the manifest interest of the City/County. 2.1 Engineering Department Means the Engineering department of the City/County. 2.2 Wireless telecommunications system Any system which uses a form of cellular telephony which allows business and residential customers or subscribers to access and/or make telephone calls to each other through the wireless telecommunications system or over the public switched telephone network (PSTN) using small cordless telephone devices which communicate with limited range cells (transmitt~r/receiver sites) connected to a backhaul network. 2.3 Bacikhaul Network The physical network that connects micro cells and pico cells to a central switching point or to the public switched telephone network. 2.4 Micro Cell A transmitter/receive~ system ~sed to communicate to a subscribers handset. Typically with a range of 60Ø-1ØØØ meters. 2.5 pico Cell A transmitter/receiver system used to communicate with a subscribers handset. Typically with a range of 2Ø0-60Ø meters. 2
