Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday,July 7, 2014 <br /> Page 12 <br /> redevelopment, and suggested the City put itself in a position to influence — not <br /> control—that redevelopment in order to lead it versus reacting to it. <br /> Mayor Roe noted that the Har Mar Mall area is currently zoned Community Busi- <br /> ness, and not CMU, and therefore open to multi-level redevelopment under that <br /> current zoning designation. <br /> Councilmember McGehee thanked the HRA for getting ahead of the curve; and in <br /> addition to the comments of Councilmember Willmus, agreed with the need for <br /> the "Living Smarter"marketing campaign to move beyond banners and the Home <br /> & Garden Fair, and expand that concept to more specific ways to drive the com- <br /> munity forward. <br /> Chair Maschka noted that the community continued to see more young families <br /> move in, and with the park renewal program in process, that synergy was coming <br /> together and could be built on; as well as with the support of the new Community <br /> Development Director and Communications Manager and their efforts to lead <br /> things forward cohesively. <br /> Councilmember McGehee expressed her support for the HRA expanding the <br /> "Living Smarter"marketing and logos, and opined that it be used to point the City <br /> in the right direction, and therefore she saw no need for any further branding or <br /> logos. <br /> Chair Maschka opined that the first half of creation was writing things down. <br /> While recognizing the potential for the "Living Smarter" logo and motto, Mayor <br /> Roe suggested that the other motto, promoted by the Roseville Visitor's Associa- <br /> tion(RVA), that Roseville was "perfectly positioned"not be sold short. <br /> Chair Maschka concurred, noting that the RVA motto was part of living smarter, <br /> and offered a huge benefit to residents in shorter commuting time from their <br /> homes to work places and other activities/events. <br /> Councilmember Laliberte thanked the HRA for bringing up the SE Roseville and <br /> hotel data; and offered her full support in investigating and further study by the <br /> HRA on both of those issues. <br /> Chair Maschka opined that it was important to deter urine what was happening and <br /> what could be done about it. <br /> Mayor Roe noted that SE Roseville offered a unique neighborhood, with many <br /> nice homes, but others with issues and some long-term multi-family complexes <br /> and related issues. Mayor Roe cautioned that whatever was done, a vital piece <br /> would be to accentuate the positives, since it wasn't all bad news in that part of <br />
