Recap of Joint Meeting with City Council <br />176 Chair Stenlund thanked those members of the PWETC who'd attended the joint <br />177 meeting with the City Council; expressing his pride in the group. <br />178 <br />179 Of the items discussed with the City Council, Chair Stenlund noted that organized <br />180 trash collection remained silent, with no direct char o the PWETC to pursue it <br />181 further at this time. <br />182 <br />183 From his notes of the joint meeting, Chair Stenlund reviewed the directives and <br />184 comments provided by individual City Councilmembers, and his recommendation <br />185 for those items the PWETC should include in their work plan for ultimate <br />186 recommendation to the City Council as applicable. <br />187 • Involve and/or increase participation in curbside recycling collection by multi- <br />188 family apartments, businesses and churches to continue increasing <br />189 participation and a larger percentage of recovered material. <br />190 <br />191 • Green Cities Program: determine where that process is at, and next steps. <br />192 <br />193 On a related noted, Chair Stenlund advised that he had recently attended a <br />194 water quality workshop in St. Louis Park for commission members, which he <br />195 found quite interesting and offered to share information with others if <br />196 interested. <br />197 <br />198 Mr. Schwartz reported that Environmental Specialist Ryan Johnson had <br />199recently taken a look at the project performed by Mankato State students, and <br />200 met with Metro/CERTS in mid-April to discuss the process and next steps to <br />201 reach a Level 2 minimum Green Step. Mr. Schwartz further reported that this <br />202 morning, Mr. Johnson had tentatively scheduled a meeting with the City <br />203 Council at their J* 14, 2014 meeting for formally establish the City of <br />204 Roseville as a Green Step City via resolution, after which the MPCA would <br />205 get the City started on their website for additional data entry; and the City of <br />206 Roseville would be recognized at the next League of Minnesota Cities annual <br />207 conference in June of 2015. Therefore, Mr. Schwartz advised that the <br />208 program should be up and running before too long. <br />209 <br />210 Chair Stenlund asked staff to include an update from staff for the benefit <br />211 of new commissioners on a future PWETC agenda. <br />212 <br />213 • Status report on single-sort recycling program to-date after its initial roll-out <br />214 in February of 2014; and as part of that a reminder about the requested Eureka <br />215 tour. <br />216 <br />Page 5 of 18 <br />
