Cost of these tests shall be paid by the OWNER, except that any retesting of areas that fail to meet specifications shall be paid by the CONTRACTOR. 604.000 METHOD OF MEASQREMENT ~D BAS*~ OF PAYMENT , Trench excavation and backfill shall be incidental to placing the pipe except where rock or unsuitable material is encoun- tered. Payment for these items is as stated herein. 604.100 Solid Rock and Loose Rock Excavation Solid rock and loose rock excavation shall be 'measured by volume in cubic yards and 'shall be paid for at the Contract unit Price. Solid rock and loose rock excavation shall be 'measured from the top of the rock to a point 6 inches below the outside barrel of the pipe and 12 inches from each side of .the pipe. The mini1num trench width of the solid rock and loose rock excavation shall be 36 inches. Measurement and payment shall be on the aforementioned basis except that individual boulders, rock and concrete less than 2 cubic yards in size shall be considered incidental. 604.200 Granular Material~ Granular materials furnished and placed as speoial foundation, bedding, encasement or backfill construction will be measured by weight or volume of material furnished as specified in the Plans or the Proposal by the CONTRACTOR from outside sources an~ placed within the limits defined.. Unless otherwise specified, volume will be determined by vehicular measure (loose volume), at the point of delivery. Measurements will not include any materials required to be placed as a component part of other Contract Items as may be specified. 605.000 Compaction of Backfill All backfill shall be compacted as required by the specified densi ty method. All trenches shall be compacted in maximwn one (1) foot lifts. , The required density of tr~nch backfill shall be 95% of Standard Proctor except that the top three (3) feet shall be compacted to 100% of Standard Proctor. .
