You see places they visited, Peruvians, a variety of wildlife and many birds. All ages welcome. Meet at HANC. Prog #1255.101 Th, Jan 14 7:00-8:30 pm $6 Identifying Early Spring Migrants It has been many months since we have last seen our early spring migratory birds. This program will provide an opportunity to review what these birds look like and when and where we can find them. Digital photos will be used to illustrate each species. All ages welcome. Prog #1255.102 Th Mar 18 7:00-8:30 pm $6 Looking For Early Spring Migrants This field trip will provide the unique opportunity to enter the Arden Hills Army Training Site (AHATS), the old arsenal area which is in general closed to the public. We will use the area to look for early spring migrants which should include Trumpeter Swans, maybe Common Loon and Tree Swallows. The area also harbors many Wild Turkeys. Appropriate for ages 10-101. Meet in the HANC parking lot to car pool. Prog #1255.103 Sa Apr 3 8:30-10:30 am $6 Spring Migratory Ducks By mid-April we can expect migrating ducks to show up in the metro area. We will check a couple local areas with open water for ducks including Wood Ducks, Ring-necked Ducks, Lesser Scaup, Ruddy Ducks and Buffleheads. We should also find Common Loons. Other non-duck species will also be noted. Appropriate for ages 8-98. Meet in the HANC parking lot to car pool. Prog #1255.104 Th Apr 15 8:30-10:30 am $10 Identifying Spring Warblers We see many of our warblers for only a brief time in May as they are heading north to their nesting grounds. Therefore, it is helpful, even for experienced birders and certainly for the rest of us, to review the keys for identifying them shortly before they arrive.
