At the January 11, 2010 City Council meeting, Clearwire proposed to install a 125 foot tower with the necessary ground space (directly South of the tennis/basketball court parking lot cul- de-sac), with capabilities of future expansion to allow for co-location. At this meeting, the City Council tabled the item to allow staff to discuss with Clearwire the option of extending the 60 day condition to allow further review. Before the City Council at this meeting was the recommendation from the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Planning Commission to deny the request. At this meeting the planning staff recommended approval based on the co- location code interpretation. At the January 25, 2010 City Council meeting, with agreement from Clearwire, a 60 day conditional use extension for the tower in Acorn Park was approved. At this meeting the City Council referred the item back to the Parks and Recreation Commission for further review, discussion and recommendation. Specifically, the City Council is interested in further analysis, review and recommendation on: Placement alternatives Criteria considerations Potential impacts Suggestions on the use of revenues from the lease This item is expected to be discussed at your February and March meetings with a final recommendation to the City Council formulated in March. Included in your packet is a correspondence from Mark Connolly, a neighbor of Acorn Park. Requested Commission Action: To discuss item in preparation of formulating a recommendation at the March meeting to forward to the City Council. 4. 2010 Park Improvement/Project Program The Park Improvement Program funding for 2010 is set at $185,000. Enclosed are the proposed projects. Staff will be prepared to briefly review each item with you and answer any questions you may have. Requested Commission Action: Discuss and recommend the 2010 PIP projects. 5. Parks and Recreation System Master Plan Update The Parks and Recreation System Master Plan process continues. Commission members that are on the Citizen Advisory Team (CAT) and staff will be prepared to give you an update on the progress. A PowerPoint presentation will be given describing the latest. This presentation has also recently been provided for the City Advisory Commissions, City Council, numerous affiliated groups and has been used as an introduction to all listening sessions. Enclosed is a flyer announcing the second community meeting that is scheduled for Wednesday, February 10, 2010. Please continue to invite your friends and neighbors to get involved. The more input that can be obtained in this process, the better the plan will be. Requested Commission Action : Discussion and provide feedback. 6. Review Annual Calendar Included in your packet is an update annual calendar based upon input from last meeting. Please plan to approve the annual calendar.
