Frank Rog Amphitheatre Redevelopment Project Update <br />Public Art Project <br />Project Team <br />: Gale Pederson – Central Park Foundation <br /> Michelle Kruzel – Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> Sarah Lenz – Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> Janet Rog – Frank Rog Family <br /> Margaret Rog – Frank Rog Family <br /> Jill Anfang – Parks and Recreation <br />Project Consultant <br />: Melinda Hobbs Childs – FORCAST Public Art <br />th <br />Gale, Michelle, Janet, Margaret and Jill met with Melinda on January 14 to review the <br />qualifications of five local artists. <br />Project details were outlined <br />: <br /> Budget: $10,000 <br /> Timeline: Completed Project due Mid May <br /> Scope: Mosaic Art – Amphitheatre Floor <br />Interested Artists <br />: <br />1.Steve Hemingway – Minnetonka, MN <br />Ceramic Artist with extensive experience working with cities, schools, hospitals, corporations and <br />religious organizations. Looks to create paving patterns, tile insets and color compositions at the <br />Amphitheatre. <br />2.Michael Sweere – Minneapolis, MN <br />A Visual Artist specializing in mosaic art installations. Most of his mosaic and fine art <br />installations are constructed from recycled or salvaged materials. <br />3.Brad Kaspari – Minneapolis, MN <br />A skilled artist trained in a wide variety of materials and techniques – mosaic, terrazzo, art glass, <br />artistic lighting and formed, fabricated and cast discrete sculpture. He is always interested in <br />developing works that change with the time of day, season of the year. <br />4.Barbara Keith – Lanesboro, MN <br />Mosaic artist with past experiences as a graphic artist. Recently placed work in public locations <br />in St. Paul, St. Cloud, Iowa, Texas and California. <br />5.Angela Talle – Minneapolis, MN <br />Mosaic artist who served as an apprentice with Isaiah Zagar in Philadelphia PA. During this <br />time, she was involved in 30 different public art projects. <br />Committee members viewed samples of each artists work, discussed and critiqued the work and <br />arrived at the top three candidates. From this point, positives and negatives of the top three <br />artists were discussed followed by a vote that resulted in Barbara Keith being selected as the <br />mosaic artist at the Frank Rog Amphitheatre. <br /> <br />
