If this moves forward, the general project specific discussions that Parks and Recreation staff has had with
Clearwire on what the project would entail are as follows:
1) Replacement of the existing hockey rink light pole with a higher pole (color to blend in to park
setting), add the antenna on top of the pole with rink lights on the same pole at the height they are
at now
2) Installation of a 7X7 ground cabinet with exact location yet ot be determined
3) The total installation and equipment costs would be that of Clearwire
4) A $1200 per month rent would be paid to the City
5) The typical public process would be followed to include neighborhood and community meetings
Tony from Clearwire was interested in the department perspective. I related to him that I think that if the
above items can be addressed appropriately that it could be a worthwhile proposal for Acorn Park. I also
explained to him that these are always sensitive issues when dealing with a Park.
Requested Commission Action:
Discuss and provide a recommendation as to your support level.
7.
Parks and Recreation System Master Plan Update
The Parks and Recreation System Master Plan process is underway.
