Target Range:
Purpose: To provide a range for standard archery shooting.
Target Audience: Any archer.
Equipment- Any Bows; Any Arrows; Target or field points. Bow racks with room for at
least one bow per shooting lane.
Shooting Positions: Variable but mostly standing ground positions,
Targets: Bullseye, dot, 5 spot or other type of outdoor target should be used and should
be movable to accommodate a variety of shooting styles by individuals, groups, events
and for competitions. Target stands should be light enough to be moved using an ATV
or at least 3 people, but heavy enough to discourage theft.
Ideally, this area would consist of 15 targets ranging from 5 yards to 70 yards. A portion
of the range should be open to Olympic style shooting which would require targets
placed up to 90 meters (98.4 yards) from the shooting line. A larger spectator area is
also preferred for competitions and group events. Bleachers should be in the resting
area and should be moveable for events.
Bow racks with built in quivers should be located on or directly behind the shooting line.
Benches should be placed at least 5' behind the shooting line.
