27. The City will develop a promotion and education plan. <br />27.1. Provide a "safe biking" class in the Community Education program.. <br />27.2. Encourage area cycling shops to support and promote the City's pathway network. <br />27.3. Utilize the OVAL for cycling events both competitive and educational. <br />27.4. Gather and/or develop educational and promotional videos for use at schools, promotional <br />events or local cablecasts. <br />27.5. Collaborate with school officials on ways to educate students on pathway safety and use. <br />27.6. The City will widely circulate pathways plan and maps. <br />27.7. The City will encourage citizen volunteers to aid in pathway maintenance and <br />improvements. <br />27.8. Utilize the City's webpage to educate, inform and promote alternative modes of travel and <br />the Roseville pathway network. <br />Recommendations <br />The following recommendations are intended to direct the City to take action in the development of <br />an appropriate and well -guided pathway network for the community's transportation and recreational <br />needs. <br />A) Formally adopt by reference the Roseville Pathway Master Plan as part of the City of Roseville's <br />Comprehensive Plan to guide the City in all pathway -related issues. <br />B) Support the effort to maintain the City's growing system of pathways through proper funding of <br />equipment, personnel or contracted services. By committing to pathway operations and <br />maintenance, the City is assuring Roseville will have a well-maintained transportation and <br />recreation pathway network for now and into the future. <br />C) Support and promote the development of pathway facilities in Roseville through the construction <br />of new facilities through out the City. Recommend a funding program to implement the <br />development of pathway facilities described in this document. Pathway facilities provide not <br />only provide a health benefit for users, they also can reduce congestion, and reduce green house <br />gas emissions. <br />D) Development and redevelopment projects shall conform with the Pathway Master Plan goals and <br />policies. Plans shall be reviewed as a part of the design review process to ensure that <br />development and transportation (all modes) work well together. <br />E) Review and update the Pathway Master Plan at least every five years to ensure that the plan <br />remains consistent with the community's goals and needs. <br />City of Roseville Pathway Master Plan <br />Final Review Draft August 2008 Page 23 of <br />31 <br />
