PARK IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM 2008 <br />5. <br />Brokke presented $216,000 in system-wide improvements and repairs for 2008. Proposed projects include; <br /> <br /> <br />Central Park Dale Street Bridge Replacement <br /> <br /> <br />Central Park Dale Street Playground Equipment Upgrade (in partnership with FORParks) <br /> <br /> <br />Tennis Court Repairs at Pocahontas, Evergreen, Bruce Russell and Rosebrook Parks <br /> <br /> <br />Playground Equipment replacement at Valley Park <br /> <br /> <br />Playground Improvements as needed – replenish safety surfaces <br /> <br /> <br />Addition of 10 benches through the Ramsey County 1000 Benches program <br /> <br /> <br />Central Park Amphitheatre Improvements in partnership with the Central Park Foundation <br /> <br /> <br />Picture Window replacement at HANC <br /> <br /> <br />HANC Roof Repairs <br /> <br /> <br />Acorn Park Shelter Demolition and Grounds Restoration <br /> <br /> <br />Athletic Field Upgrades, Landscaping and System Amenities <br /> <br /> COMPREHENSIVE PLAN COMMITTEE REPORT <br />6. <br />Willmus updated the Commission on the activities of the Comprehensive Planning Committee. <br /> <br /> <br />Committee is working its way through the wants and needs of the community <br /> <br /> <br />Project deadline is December 2008 <br /> <br /> <br />There are members of the committee that do not want a link to the Parks Master Plan in the Comp Plan <br />– this topic continues to be discussed and debated by the committee <br /> <br /> DIRECTOR’S REPORT <br />7. <br /> <br /> <br />HANC Planning Committee is finalizing its review process and will be meeting February 21 to review <br />its report. Committee to present findings to Parks and Recreation Commission and Council in March. <br /> <br /> <br />2008 Legislative season has begun. The Roseville Skating Center projects, including the Geothermal <br />project are in the House bill. At this time, we have not seen the projects in the Senate bill. <br /> <br /> <br />City is looking to use Best Value Contracting on the Geothermal project. Government agencies can <br />now procure contractors by using the Best Value process rather than low bid based on selected, project <br />specific criteria. Roseville City Council has authorized staff to work with Arizona State University to <br />train Roseville staff on the Best Value system and consult on the Geothermal project. <br /> <br /> <br />Council has narrowed down the Imagine Roseville 2025 recommendations into short, medium and long <br />th <br />range goals. The Council has scheduled a special session on February 20 to review the work plan. <br /> <br /> <br />Commission inquiries; <br /> <br />Are you interested in developing a Commission Work Plan for the upcoming year? Commission <br />o <br />recommended reviewing the work plan at the March meeting. <br /> <br />Is the Commission interested in a joint Council-Commission Meeting? Commission was <br />o <br />unanimously in favor of meeting with the Council. Commission recommended a June meeting. <br /> <br /> OTHER <br />8. <br />The number of waste removal companies working in Roseville was discussed – it was questioned if this is in <br />the best interest of the environment to have numerous trucks in our neighborhoods and on our streets on trash <br />pick up days.
