PROJECT OVERVIEW: <br />The refrigeration flooring for the indoor arena at the Roseville Skating Center is scheduled for replacement <br />during the summer of 2007. Due to the removal of ice and disruption of typical ice season, this is also an ideal <br />time to replace the dasher board and glass system, the evaporative condenser, and re -insulate the chiller barrel. <br />The indoor arena would be shutdown for nine weeks (July 30 — October 5, 2007) Ice would be back in place for <br />rentals beginning Saturday October 6, 2007. RSC staff would work closely with Ramsey County to secure ice <br />rental time for primary RSC user groups September 4 — October 5, 2007. <br />ESTIMATED PROJECT COSTS: <br />• Replacement of steel tubing in. arena floor - $ 335,000 <br />• Replacement of dasher boards and glass - $ 140,000 <br />• Replacement of evaporative condenser (cooling tower) - $ 40,000 <br />• Re -insulate chiller barrel - $ 1.2,500 <br />PROJECT/COMMUNICATION TIMELINE: <br />• July 2006 — Discuss project with engineers and request proposals <br />• August 2006 — select engineering firm for project <br />• August/September 2006 — possible soil samples to determine frost depth <br />• September 2006 — Notify Primary User groups of construction plans <br />• September December 2006 — Design work by Engineering firm <br />• December 2006 — secure preliminary ice times from Ramsey County <br />• January 2007 — Prepare bid documents and advertise for bids <br />• January 2007 — secure commitments frorn user groups for Ramsey County ice requests <br />• January/February 2007 — receive/award bids <br />• February 2007 — finalize ice schedule with Ramsey County for primary user groups <br />• July 30, 2007 Begin Construction <br />USER GROUP IMPACT: <br />• Youth Bandy camp would need to move <br />• RFSC would need alternate location Sept. 4 — Oct. 5 <br />• RAYHA would need alternate location Sept. 15 — Oct. 5 (tryouts Sept. 24-28) <br />• RAHS Captains Practices would need alternate locations Sept. 4 — Oct. 5 <br />• RSC Skating School would need alternate location Sept. 4 — Oct. 5 (fiscally practical?) <br />• Raider Hockey School would need alternate location Sept. 4 — Sept. 21) <br />• Adult groups would need alternate location (Benjamin, Cardinal, Ring, Lodge) <br />ACTION ITEMS: <br />• Complete preliminary meetings with engineering firms (Stevens, Bonestroo,?) <br />• Determine Direct Floor replacement vs Indirect System replacement? <br />• Secure commitment from Ramsey County for ice Sept. 4 — Oct. 5, 2007 <br />• Coordinate with South Entry Project? <br />
