MEMORANDUM
To: Parks and Recreation Commission
From: Lonnie Brokke
Date: July 27, 2007
Re: Notes for Commission Meeting on August 7, 2007
Introductions/Roll Call/Public Comment Invited
Commissioners and staff will be introduced. Public participation and public comment is
encouraged.
2. Approval of Minutes of June 5, 2007 meeting
Enclosed is a copy of the minutes of June 5, 2007. Please be prepared to approve or amend.
Requested Commission Action: Approve or amend minutes of the meeting June 5, 2007.
3. United Properties Proposal #4 Near Langton Lake Park
United Properties has requested to be on the agenda this month to discuss with you the park
dedication requirements and the possibility of them being adjusted? While you certainly can
make a recommendation to the City Council that you feel appropriate, the primary role of the
Commission on developments is to review the development and offer a recommendation to the
City Council on whether to accept land, cash or a combination. There was preliminary
consensus at your last meeting on a conceptual design that suggests that cash be accepted in
lieu of land dedication. At this meeting you may consider making a formal recommendation.
The final decision lies with the City Council.
The opinion of staff has remained constant and that is that park dedication fees should be
collected in full and if the City decides to do improvements to the park consistent with the Park
Master Plan, those funds can be utilized to do that.
Requested Commission Action: Comments, questions and consider formal
recommendation on Park Dedication,
4. Review/Follow Up to Joint City Council/Parks and Recreation Commission
Meeting
This is a follow-up item to the joint City Council/Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting
that was held on July 16th .This is an opportunity for the commission to evaluate and discuss
the meeting.
