Recap of Joint Meeting with City Council <br /> Chair Stenlund thanked those members of the PWETC who'd attended the joint <br /> meeting with the City Council; expressing his pride in the group. <br /> Of the items discussed with the City Council, Chair Stenlund noted that organized <br /> trash collection remained silent, with no direct charge to the PWETC to pursue it <br /> further at this time. <br /> From his notes of the joint meeting, Chair Stenlund reviewed the directives and <br /> comments provided by individual City Councilmembers, and his recommendation <br /> for those items the PWETC should include in their work plan for ultimate <br /> recommendation to the City Council as applicable. <br /> • Involve and/or increase participation in curbside recycling collection by multi- <br /> family apartments, businesses and churches to continue increasing <br /> participation and a larger percentage of recovered material. <br /> • Green Cities Program: determine where that process is at, and next steps. <br /> On a related noted, Chair Stenlund advised that he had recently attended a <br /> water quality workshop in St. Louis Park for commission members, which he <br /> found quite interesting and offered to share information with others if <br /> interested. <br /> Mr. Schwartz reported that Environmental Specialist Ryan Johnson had <br /> recently taken a look at the project performed by Mankato State students, and <br /> met with Metro/CERTS in mid-April to discuss the process and next steps to <br /> reach a Level 2 minimum Green Step. Mr. Schwartz further reported that this <br /> morning, Mr. Johnson had tentatively scheduled a meeting with the City <br /> Council at their July 14, 2014 meeting for formally establish the City of <br /> Roseville as a Green Step City via resolution, after which the MPCA would <br /> get the City started on their website for additional data entry; and the City of <br /> Roseville would be recognized at the next League of Minnesota Cities annual <br /> conference in June of 2015. Therefore, Mr. Schwartz advised that the <br /> program should be up and running before too long. <br /> Chair Stenlund asked staff to include an update from staff for the benefit <br /> of new commissioners on a future PWETC agenda. <br /> • Status report on single-sort recycling program to-date after its initial roll-out <br /> in February of 2014; and as part of that a reminder about the requested Eureka <br /> tour. <br /> Page 5 of 18 <br />
