<br />TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />1 <br />] <br /> <br />SECTION 300 <br /> <br />W A TERMAIN <br /> <br />301.0 DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />This work shall consist of the construction of water main and building service pipelines <br />utilizing plant fabricated pipe and other appurtenant materials, installed.for conveyance <br />of potable water. The work includes the relocation or adjustment of existing facilities as <br />may be specified in the Contract. <br /> <br />1 <br />.j <br /> <br />Removal of existing facilities, trench excavation and backfill, and restoration is included <br />in Sections 100, 200, and 600 of these specifications. <br /> <br />1 <br />J <br />J <br />1 <br />J <br />J <br />J <br />J <br />j <br />~J <br />J <br /> <br />Service installations will be designated as either Branch Service or Tap Service in <br />accordance with the standards set forth herein. <br /> <br />Tap Service installations shall include all water service line~ of two and one-half inches <br />nominal inside diameter pipe or smaller. The component parts of a tap service <br />installation shall include a corporation stop coupling complete with watennain tap and <br />saddle where required; a curb stop coupling ~omplete with service box; and copper <br />piping extending ftom the corporation stop to the curb stop coupling and beyond to the <br />Lot line. One inch tap service lines shall be installed as the minimum standard wherever <br />another size is not specified in the Contract. <br /> <br />Branch Service installations shall include all water service lines of three inches nominal <br />inside diameter-pipe and larger. The component parts of a branch service installation <br />. shall include a tapping sleeve and valve or a branch 3-way and gate valve complete with <br />valve box, and ductile iron piping extendingftom the water main connection to a <br />hydrant or to the property line as specified and established by the ENGINEER. <br /> <br />All references to MnDOT specifications shall mean the latest published edition of the <br />Minnesota Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Highway <br />Construction. as modified by any Supplemental Specification .edition published prior to <br />the date of advertisement for bids. All references to other Specifications of AASHTO, <br />ASTM, ASA, A WW A, etc. shall mean the latest published edition available on the date <br />of advertisement for bids. <br /> <br />All references to Cast Iron material shall be construed to include both Gray Iron and <br />Ductile Iron products, except where one or the other is specified. All references to <br />"structure" shall. include any man-made object that is not otherwise exempted by special <br />. terminology or definition. <br /> <br />300-1 <br /> <br /> <br />) <br />
