<br />MINNESOTA POLLUTION CONTROL AGENCY <br />Vater Quality Division <br /> <br />INFORMATION RELATIVE TO <br />REVIEV OF PLANS.AND PERMIT APPLICATIONS <br /> <br />June 1, 1992 <br /> <br />The review of plans and specifications for sewage, industrial waste or other <br />waste disposal systems and application for permits is made in accordance wito <br />the authority conferred by law (see MS, Section 115.07). Approval of plans and <br />permits is based upon the assumption that the information provided by the <br />applicant is correct and that all necessary legal requirements have been or will <br />be satisfied. <br /> <br />Plans for sewage, industrial.waste or other waste disposal systems are examined <br />with regard to the design features which apply to operation and maintenance of <br />the treatment works or sewer system, the degree of treatment to be provided, the <br />effectiveness and reliability,of the system or methods employed, and compliance <br />with applicable standards systems. The bulletin entitled Recommended Standards <br />for Vastewater Facilities, 1990 Edition, and supplements thereto, as well as <br />other information are used in examination of the design, operation and <br />maintenance aspects of the proposed system. <br /> <br />Sewer plans are recommended for approval on the basis that the system is to <br />collect only domestic sewage and such industrial or other waste as may have been <br />provided for in the design. Foundation or footing drains to collect ground <br />water and roof drains or other surface water conduits should not be connected to <br />the sanitary sewer system. Adequate field supervision and inspection by a <br />qualified representative of the owner should be provided at all times during <br />construction to assure that the project is constructed in compliance with the <br />approved plans and specifications. <br /> <br />The Agency assumes no responsibility for the integrity of structures or physical <br />features, or for the reliability, durability or efficiency of specific items of <br />propriety equipment or material. All applicable federal, state and local laws, <br />regulations or ordina~ces must be followed in the design, location. and <br />construction of proposed sewer systems or treatment works. <br /> <br />The Agency reserves the right to withdraw its approval of plans if construction <br />is not undertaken within a reasonable period after issuance of the permit. <br /> <br /> <br />
