<br />Transverse expansion joints, filled with 1/2 inch pre-fonned joint material, shall be <br />placed at the ends of all curved sections; at the ends of the curved portions of entrance <br />and street returns, and three feet on each side of all catch basins. <br /> <br />Section 2531 of Minnesota Department of Transportation specifications shall be <br />modified to delete the option for the contractor to accept reduced payment for <br />unacceptable work. <br /> <br />Unacceptable work shall be removed and be replaced with acceptable work as ordered <br />by t~e ENGINEER. . <br /> <br />703.5 SEEDING <br /> <br />After placement of topsoil on the boulevard areas, they shall be seeded according to <br />Minnesota Department of Transportation 2575. Seed shall be Mixture No.6, the <br />application rate shall be 150#/acre and the fertilizer shall be analysis 12-12-12. <br /> <br />703.6 RESTORATION OF SURFACE IMPROVEMENTS <br /> <br />Wherever any surface improvements such as pavement, curbing, pedestrian walks, <br />fencing, or turfing have been removed, damaged or otherwise disturbed by the <br />..oA CONTRACTOR's operation, they shall be repaired or replaced to the ENGINEER's <br />satisfaction, as will restore the improvement in kind and structure to the pre-existing <br />condition. Each item of restoration work shall be done as soon as practicable after <br />completion of installation and backfilling operations on each section of work. <br /> <br />In the absence of specific payment provisions, as separate Contract Items, the <br />restoration work shall be compensated for as part of the work required under those <br />Contract Items which necessitated the destruction and replacement or repair, and there <br />J will be no separate payment therefore. If separate pay items are provided for restoration <br />. j work, only that portion of the repair or reconstruction which was necessitated by the <br />Contract work will be measured for payment. Any improvements removed or damaged <br />uMecessarily shall be replaced or repaired at the CONTRACTOR's expense. <br /> <br />Any improvements the ENGINEER considers obsolete or no longer in service will not <br />have to be restored. No replacement will be required of any trees or shrubbery the loss <br />or damage or which could not be avoided by reason of the new construction or by the <br />exercise of reasonable precautions. <br /> <br />703.7 <br /> <br />RESTORATION OF MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS <br /> <br />1 <br />J <br />t <br />J <br /> <br />Wherever any curbing, curb and gutter sections, pedestrian walks. fencing, driveway <br />surfacing, or other improvements are removed or in any way damaged. they shall be <br />restored to original condition unless otherwise shown on the plans or designated by the <br />'. ENGINEER by repair or replacement as the ~GINEER considers necessary. <br />Replacement of old materials will be acceptable only to the extent that existing quality <br />can be fully achieved, such as in the case offencing.
