When the City entered into an agrearent with Ryan Ccrnpanies to develop the property, the agrearent req..il.red a 105,OOO-square-foot building. With the streets planned for the site, it appears the 10S,OOO-sgu.are-foot building won't wo::k on ~ property unless setback variances are granted by the coun:il or the buildin; size is reduced. ~ Our concern is that a variance will be grant~ that will alIa;..' the ne-.... building to be built closer to the D.:>rso property than the current set.l::ack requirement. We do not think that a varia.11ce of t.h.atnature is in our best interests, nor do we think that it. is appropriate for the City to be granting itself variances that iropact ~ adjoining property CYWnerS. That would be a conflict of interest.
