Planning Application Narrative

The size of our lot, located at 3030 Little Bay Road in Roseville, is approximately 140' X 160'
(See property sketched attached). We have a one and one half brick and stucco house located on
the property which we purchased November 6th 1990. The existing property is zoned residential
and will remain as such.

We would like to construct an in-ground wading pool in the back of our house 4 1/2' deep. The
variance is being requested because the pool will be constructed 36 1/2' to 48' to the shoreline.
The ordinance states that 75' is the limit.

Twenty to thirty years ago the owners of homes located on Little Bay Road had the Bay enlarged
by dredging it. The consequence of this left our property at 3030 Little Bay Road 18' to 24' of
less land. If we had that land, we would be very close to meeting the 75' variance requirement.
Because of the dredging, we are unable to swim in the bay area, it is too muddy.

./
We have ten grandc~ildren, and are very cognizant of the safety requirements of a pool. The
pool will be equipped with an automatic cover, which will be in place any time the pool is not in
use. The cover, when in place, is strong enough to walk on. At our former residence, we had an
in-ground pool for 19 years. We are very aware ofthe pros and cons of pool ownership.

I have recently had open heart surgery. Walking and swimming in the pool has been
recommended by my doctor as excellent therapy.

If there are any other matters regarding the planning application, please call me at 484-7890.

Sincerely,

I!!!!IJfJ~
