Regarding: 1270 Josephine Road

As you can see by the way the house sits in relation to the garage, it would be
impossible to build out the back of the house and still meet the building code. Our
desire is to put a bedroom, bathroom and a family room, (which could be converted
into another bedroom ifneeded) all on the main floor. My wife has been diagnosed
with Fibromyalgia syndrome which is a chronic painful condition that affects soft
tissue structures like the muscles and ligaments. As it progresses, it will become
increasingly hard for her to climb stairs. Her doctor has determined-that a whirlpool
tub would be of benefit giving her some relief so that she may continue working.

We also have a 29 year old daughter who is mentally handicapped. She is currently
and must remain living in the only bedroom on the first floor.

We have tried to design an addition that would meet our needs and also be
aesthetically pleasing to the neighborhood. The only way we can achieve this would
be to build closer to our west lot line.

As you know, there have been two feasibility studies done on the cost to develop
the proposed road known as "Dellwood" and it was found that it would be to costly
because of the soil conditions. We have contacted The Advent Lutheran Church
and have their approval for our addition. Also, The Advent Lutheran Church and
myself own 99 per cent of the property adjoining the proposed road and neither of
us have any desire to develop our property or complete a road.

I believe we have a legitimate hardship case and hope that we can get a minor
variance for the 16 1/2 foot setback which would be required to build our addition.
