<br />/. <br /> <br />JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT <br />FOR THE <br />NORTH METRO I-35W CORRIDOR COALITION <br /> <br />The parties to this agreement are governmental units of the State of Minnesota. This <br />agreement is made and entered into pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, 1994, Section 471.59. <br /> <br />Witnesseth: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Cities of Arden Hills, Blaine, Circle Pines, Mounds View, New Brighton, <br />Roseville and Shoreview (North Metro I-35W Corridor Coalition Cities) directly bordering or in <br />close proximity to the North Metro portion ofInterstate I-35W (I-35W); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the North Metro I-35W Corridor Coalition Cities have commenced a collaborative <br />effort to discuss, identify and address macro economic development, housing, transportation, <br />contaminated lands, employee training needs, and other physical land use and community planning <br />issues along the entire I-35W corridor; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the North Metro I-35W Corridor Coalition Cities intend to utilize this information to <br />guide and support development of essential transportation and inftastructure improvements along <br />the 1-35 Corridor, as well as to assist in determining appropriate mass transit policies, and for <br />assisting to develop a coordinated/collaborative database and GIS system, compatible with the <br />metropolitan GIS system; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the North Metro I-35W Corridor Coalition Cities desire to utilize this strategic <br />alliance to assist in marketing and guiding development along the I-35W Corridor; and <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />U:\I-3SW\CORPORA T\J-POWER2.DOC <br /> <br />1 <br />
