REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION

DATE:

10/27/97

ITEM NO.: H-l

Department Approval:

Manager Reviewed:

Agenda Section:

Hearings

Item Description: Withdrawal of Application for Proposed Parking Lot Expansion at
Lake Ridge Health Care Center.

BACKGROUND

At the August 25 meeting of the Roseville City Council, the issue of the proposed Lake
Ridge parking lot expansion was referred to staff for review with direction that the issue be
brought back to the City Council at the October 27, 1997 Council meeting.

Over the past several weeks, Lake Ridge has reviewed their parking lot proposal and
alternatives. It has become apparent that there are no imminent changes in the parking
lot arrangements at the Meredith Cable site. Thus the major reason for initiating the
parking lot proposal no longer exists. Further, Lake Ridge has explored an innovative
cooperative effort with Prince of Peace Lutheran Church to provide additional parking.

This arrangement deserves special recognition. The Prince of Peace Lutheran Church will
be providing additional rented parking spaces to Lake Ridge employees. Further, the
Prince of Peace day care facilities are being made available to Lake Ridge employees.
Thus both Lake Ridge and their employees benefit as does Prince of Peace-without any
adverse impact on the Lake Ridge Nursing Home neighborhood.

The attached letter of October 22, 1997, from Todd Carsen, Executive Director of Lake
Ridge, requests withdrawal of their request for City Council approval of the proposed
parking lot expansion indefinitely.

COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED

Motion to accept withdrawal of the application for proposed parking lot expansion at the
Lake Ridge Health Care Center, 2727 North Victoria.
