While it is important to provide an opportunity for home occupations, it is also <br />the City's responsibility to ensure that such home occupations will not have <br />an adverse impact on the character and livability of the residential areas of <br />the community. <br /> <br />4.0 STAFF RECOMMENDA TION <br /> <br />4.1 Based on the findings outlined in Section 3.1, staff recommends that Section <br />1004.01 G of the City Code be amended as outlined below. Existing language has <br />been stricken, and new language underlined. The order of the various provisions <br />within the section has also been changed for ease of interpretation. <br /> <br />1004.01: GENERAL REQUIREMENTS IN ALL RESIDENCE DISTRICTS <br /> <br />G. Home Occupations: <br /> <br />1. Purpose: The purpose of the home occupation regulations is to provide an <br />opportunity for home occupations, while ensuring that such home <br />occupations do not have an adverse impact on the character and livability of <br />the surrounding neighborhood. The home occupation regulations also <br />ensure that the home occupation is secondary and subordinate to the <br />principal residential use of the property. <br /> <br />2. Standards: Home occupations shall be subject to the following standards: <br /> <br />a. R&itriQtigRi: Permitted Home occupations shall AQt only be <br />conducted by the occupant of the dwelling, and within aRY blolil~iRg <br />9R tl:l& ~J:&i:Rii&i QtR&r tRaR tl:lQ blolil~iRg the principal residential <br />structure or dwelling. Not more than QR& FQQm 30% of the floor <br />area of the dwelling, to a maximum of 600 square feet, may be used <br />for such purposes. The home occupation shall be conducted entirely <br />within the dwelling. An accessory building shall not be used to <br />operate a home occupation. <br /> <br />b. Only the resident owner(s) or tenant(s) of the dwelling, and <br />not more than one (1) nonresident employee, shall be employed by <br />or engaged in the conduct of the home occupation.
