October 29, 1997

We received a phone call on October 26 from a local developer
who said he has signed a purchase agreement to buy the property at
900 Millwood Avenue with the intent of building twin homes or town
homes on the lots. He has phoned several of our neighbors on
Millwood Avenue about his plans, which we understand would entail
re-zoning by the City Council after going through the Planning
Commission.
We have lived on the corner of Millwood Avenue and
Chatsworth for over 18 years and are definitely against any re-zoning
on Millwood to build multiple housing of any kind. We were involved
with a neighborhood traffic calming committee in 1996 when our
avenue was involved with new roads, curb, etc. and were concerned
at that time with the already heavy traffic on Millwood. Millwood
Avenue is geared for detached single family homes, and multiple
dwellings could spoil what is now a lovely, family oriented block. We
also feel it could result in increased traffic and decreased property
values for the homes that are already well established here.
Your care and concern for the homeowners on Millwood and
the surrounding area in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Sincerely,

Lu and Jim Whiting
975 Millwood Avenue
Roseville, Mn.
