<br />she and ber partners opened their Blue.
<br />Ribbon Deli in downtown Sl Paul. It was
<br />the day she watched the tumbleweed .
<br />blow down Fifth street,
<br />"Honest to God, it was a tumbleweed,"
<br />she recalls. "I thought I'd gotten myself
<br />into a Clint Eastwood movie."
<br />What Louise and ber partners got
<br />themselves mto three years ago was a
<br />city in its doldrums, at its low point, a
<br />time when the mention of the words liSt
<br />Paul" evoked rude laughter.
<br />Louise bad gotten herself into a down-
<br />town that was a civic embarrassment,
<br />and adding insult to Injury, the Blue Rib-
<br />bon was slapped with more than S800 in .
