We also
were o~y a part of the group that attended the last IDrk sessi~n
of the Council regarding this project. It was obvious that you
and the other mombers of the Council were just as appa1l~d as we
were that a representative of Everest did not even show up and
literally leCt us all there to waste three hours.

After reading Jonpthan Maze's (lrticle in the Focus News,
please let me give you my thoughts regarding this matter:

FIRST: I gathered from the article that Everest Is now con-
centrating on changing the zoning laws. Is this only tho first
stop toward achieving his goal~ Please do not permit th~ to happen.
The tall building~ inthemselves would be bad enough, but the parkbg
ramps IDuld be outrageous. We are already so close to the freeway.
What will the additional cars in our back yards do to the air quality?

SECOND: If he eXCava tea for an undergrou nd parking fac ill ty,
what will it do to the wa ter draina ge in this area? Ours is noted
for a high water table. We struggle now to keep our basements dr~
HowWlll this proj~ct affect the many homl"!s here?

THIRD: These buildings and parking areas will be practically
adjaoent to the library.. Human nature is such that it woul.d be
easier to park in the library parking lot than circle around a
ramp and finding no available space~ Library patrcns will suffer.

FOURTH: We realize that all propl"!rty will be developed in
time, but keep it within the character of the quiet, residential
neighborhood it already is. That1s why we originally bought our
homes here.

FIFTH: We already have two office buildings in the area -
both of which are always advertising the availability of office
space. what need is there for more?

SIXTH: On a personal note -our back yard abuts the vault
company. We do not have anywhere near the aDO fto mentioned at
the mee ting.
