Lee, AICP <br />City Planner <br />City of Roseville <br />2660 Civic Centre Drive <br />Roseviile, MN 55113-1899 <br /> <br />Re: Comprehensive Plan Amendment Application <br />2218-2240 Hamline Avenue <br />PF#2978 <br /> <br />Dear Ms. Lee: <br /> <br />The purpose of this letter is to inform you that we are withdrawing our application to <br />amend the Comprehensive Plan designation of the subject properties from medium <br />density residential to limited business and, accordingly, the application should be <br />removed from the January 26 City Council agenda. <br /> <br />We are withdrawing our application because it is obvious that it is impossible to obtain <br />a fair hearing on the merits of our proposal in the face of substantial anti~Everest bias <br />exhibited by City staff and the current Council, exemplified by Council member <br />Goedeke at Wednesday night's Planning Commission meeting. <br /> <br />A brief review of our contacts with the City concerning the Hamline Avenue property <br />over the past several months demonstrates that staff and the City Council are intent on <br />discrediting and disadvantaging Everest, rather than providing a neutral forum for <br />judging a redevelopment opportunity on its merits_ In the course of Informal meetings <br />and conversations with City Manager Steve Sarkozy in October of this past year, Mr. <br />Sarkozy gave contradictory indications of how an office redevelopment proposal might <br />be initiated with the City. First Mr. Sarkozy stated an office redevelopment concept <br />could be considered within the context of the City's annual Comprehensive Plan <br />updating process which was to occur in the fall of 1997; later he stated there was no <br />such Comprehensive Plan updating planned for the remainder of 1997 nor any <br />identifiable time period going into the future. <br /> <br />260S long l ak(' ROOld <br />S....i(e~W .
