We do, however, strongly
object to Alternatives #2 and #3. We feel these proposals are taking unfair
advantage of the Schreiers for even suggesting that their home must also be re-
zoned in order to be able to expand his building, to say nothing of requiring all
the homes along Cleveland to be changed to Business on the Comprehensive Plan.

The neighbors want the Schreiers to remain in the neighborhood, as well as,
their business Charles Cabinets. Why wouldn't Deb and Jim desire to live right
next door to their successful and satisfying business. It is very convenient and
they do not add to the traffic by having to drive there.

The homes you propose to turn into businesses are very nice homes and well
maintained. Some are not very old and others have been recently remodeled.
They are an asset to the neighborhood. With the improvements in Langton Lake
Park nearby, it would seem that keeping these homes in the neighborhood should
be encouraged, or perhaps the park improvements were meant only for the
people who drive here to participate in or observe the sports events.

The Charles Cabinets lot should have been zoned Business on the original
Comprehensive Plan, or at least changed when the plan was last reviewed.
Doing it now is just righting an original wrong. When there is a proposal for
business or commercial on the other lots along Cleveland, that is the time to
consider re-zoning and changing the Comprehensive Plan. Unfortunately, it is
not widely known in the neighborhood that any changes to the Comprehensive
Plan now will automatically be re-zoned to that designation by State law in
January of 1999. The homes would then be "non conformingtl.

I want to thank Craig Klausing for visiting our neighborhood before the hearing
on September 9, 1998 and putting the local community's interests first by
voting NO to requiring Alternatives # 2 and #3. I certainly hope the rest of you
will do likewise. Unfortunately, I must be out of town on that date so will not
be able to attend the meeting.
