<br />ORDINANCE NO._ <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1004.01 A <br />OF THE ROSEVlllE CITY CODE <br />(Accessory Buildings) <br /> <br />THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE DOES ORDAIN: <br /> <br />Section 1. Purpose. The purpose of this Ordinance is to amend Section lO04.01(A) of <br />the City Code to update and clarify the City's regulations regarding the number, size, location, <br />height, and appearance of accessory buildings in residential zoning districts. The intent of the <br />proposed modifications is to address the needs of Roseville residents for storage space in <br />detached garages and garden sheds, while protecting the residential areas of the community <br />from excessively large and obtrusive accessory buildings. <br /> <br />Section 2. Amendment. Section l004.01A of the Roseville City Code is hereby <br />amended as follows: <br /> <br />A. Accessory Buildings In Residential Districts: <br /> <br />1. Each residentially zoned or used parcel shall be allowed one accessory building <br />and one storage/tool/garden shed. <br /> <br />2. Location. No accessory building shall be erected or located within any front <br />yard olller thab the rear yard except fOI a tl.rough lot ,.hen it ~hall be 10c.1te.d in <br />the ~ide yaId. Accessory buildings shall be located behind the established front <br />building line of the principal structure, except for through lots and lakeshore <br />lots. Accessory buildings on through lots and lakeshore lots may be located <br />between the roadway and the principal structure, provided said accessory <br />building meets the required front yard setback for the district in which it is <br />located. <br /> <br />3. Accessory buildings shall be set back a minimum of five feet (5') from a side <br />yard or rear yard lot line, or mOle nom MIlot line~ of adjoining lots ,~hkh ale in <br />any R District, ~lIld .shall be a minimum of six feet (6') 01 mOle from any other <br />building or structure on the same lot, and behind the principal structure <br />building line in the front yard. <br /> <br />4. COhsidered rzut Of Principal Building If Distance LeM Thall Six feet. For <br />zoning and setback purposes, an accessory building shall be considered as an <br />integral part of the principal building if it is located less than six feet (6') from <br />the principal building. <br /> <br />5. Sttch The size of an accessory building shall hot occupy more than ~Ilt)i fi\!e <br />percent (2J%) be limited to forty percent (40%) of a required rear yard area, up <br />to a maximum size of 864 square feet. The one allowable storage/tool/~arden <br />shed shall not be included in this area or coverage requirements, provided said <br />storage/tool/garden shed does not exceed 120 square feet in area. If an existing <br />storage/tool/garden shed exceeds 120 square feet in area, that portion of the <br />building over 120 square feet shall be included in the area and coverage <br /> <br />Ordinance _ - Page 1 of 3 <br />
