<br />Discussion ensued as to signage as well as possible alternatives to placement of <br />the proposed addition. Member Klausing questioned the need for the proposed <br />signage; Mr. Johnson advised he would like to have a message board on the <br />sign. Member Wiske advised he would prefer a lower monument sign. <br /> <br />Chair Harms advised the following had voiced their opinion on the application: <br />Letter from Wayne E. Griesel, 1067 Harriet Lane, Roseville objecting to the <br />application; a letter from Lawrence J. Mathis, 1081 Harriet Ln, Roseville, no <br />objection to the application; phone call from Paul Narum, 1056 W. Roselawn, <br />neutral on the issue; a letter from Cryogenic Laboratories no objection; a letter <br />from Robert and Martha Houck full support of the application. <br /> <br />Chair Harms asked if there were any public questions or comments. <br /> <br />Wayne Griese!, 1067 Harriet Lane: his key concern was the lack of space for <br />adequate screening; not adequate area to screen sufficiently. <br /> <br />John Olson, 1944 Lexington Ave.,Cryogenic Laboratories:proposed landscaping <br />would address concerns and would improve current aesthetics of area; <br />concerned with curbing on north side of lot as it would be problem for <br />snowplowing; drainage better now than it was before Townhomes constructed. <br /> <br />There being no further public comments, Chair Harms closed the hearing. <br /> <br />Member Mulder: Dumpsters to be included in recommendation. <br /> <br />Chair Harms: This is a good business - need to keep it. There are problems with <br />south expansion and loading area. If it had been done before Townhomes <br />existed, would the expansion affect sale of Townhomes? (No) With right <br />landscaping/screening, it would be better. <br /> <br />Member Mulder: Change the trees to arbor vitae. <br /> <br />Motion: Member Mulder moved, Member Wilke seconded, to recommend <br />approval of a variance to reduce the rear yard (east) setback to 3 feet and the <br />side yard (north) setback to 4.5 feet for the purpose of constructing an addition to <br />an existing building (within established building lines) at 1930 Lexington Avenue <br />North, based on the staff findings and recommendations: <br /> <br />Findings: <br /> <br />1.
