Dear Minor Variance Committee,

Hi, My name is Steve Duke and I live at 1988 Eldridge Ave W. RoseviUe with my wife
and two small children Katie and Cassie. I would like to try and explain why I need 'a
minor variance. I needed to do something with the little shed we already had out back.
This shed was way to small for our needs and somewhat dangerous, not to mention very
ugly and not well constructed. So about a month ago I started to build my new shed. It
was then I was informed as to the need for a permit. I feel very stupid for not checking
that out first. I just had no idea that this would require one. In the beginning I got
together with my neighbors and discussed its position and no one had any objections as
to its location. Stan told me he really couldn't see it very well behind his trees anyway.
So I located it 2 Y2 Feet from Stans property line and 10 feet from Tony and Diane's
property line. This location was the only real choice location I had to put it. On the other
side of the yard Stan has two apple trees that bare fruit every year and are close to the
property line and my wife had planted two evergreens to where I could not place a lOx
12 slab and have ample clearance and not encroach on Linn my other neighbor. The spot
I put it in is mostly clay and is shaded by two huge cottonwoods of Tony and Diane's. It
has been very difficult to get grass to grow here. My wife already has plans to put a
flower garden in the area on either side of the shed like the one Diane has in the corner of
their property. I understand my responsibly in this was to have checked out this permit
requirement before hand and saved a hole lot of hardship for myself. I have save for a
very long time to make the improvements that I have made to my house and to have to
move my shed 2 !;2 feet will cost me a whole lot of money that I just do not have, not to
mention the time involved. I would be very grateful if your committee would grant me
this minor variance so I can get the permit I require to complete this shed.

Thank you for your time,

Steven A Duke Roseville Homeowner
