g To the Members of the Roseville City Council: The Roseville Central Park Foundation Board of Directors met on August 26, 1998. We discussed at length the proposed development of the Huberty property, which is adjacent to Central Park. We are writing to inform you of the results of this discussion. During our meeting, we discussed the appropriateness of the Foundation Board taking a formal position on this proposed development, what our position on the proposed development is, what we would like to see happen to the property ami how we could be involved in the process. We determined that it was appropriate for the Foundation to take a position on the proposed development. The Foundation exists in part to "assist in the continuing development of Central Park". We feel this includes offering our input on the development of property adjoining the park. After considerable discussion, the following motion was passed (13 in favor, 2 against): The Central Park Foundation opposes the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church development proposal for the Huberty property. The meeting included discussion about what the Board would like to see happen with the Huberty property. We attempted to consider the needs of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Central Park itself, the neighborhood surrounding the Park and the users of the Park. The following motion was passed (14 in favor, 1 abstention): The Central Park Foundation strongly encourages the City Council to explore collaboration with Prince of Peace Lutheran Church onjoint acquisition of the Huberty Property. The Foundation desires to assist the City and the Church in the acquisition of the Huberty Property. We are willing to help fonnulate a plan of action for the use of the property al}d a plan of action for paying the cost of acquiring and improving the property. The Foundation assists in the continuing development of Central Park through fundraising and providing input on the improvements in the Park. We welcome the opportunity to participate in this issue.
