VICTORIA, ROSEVILLE, MINNESOTA 55113 PHONE 484-4144

~

Roseville Planning Commission
Roseville City Council
Attn: Dennis Welsch
2660 Civic Center Drive
Roseville, MN 55113

11,- 30 -'1 ~

November 30, 1998

Dear Planning Commission and City Council,

This is a letter of support for the proposal for the senior
housing project on the property of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
During the past one,and one-half years I have been privileged to serve
as chair of the Community outreach Committee and Past President of the
congregation of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Roseville.

Prince of Peace .has a strong commitment to mission and outreach
within the community. We currently offer three age levels of child
care and open our facilities for many community functions.

An opportunity became available for us when our neighbors moved
to senior housing in Shoreview and wished to sell their property. We
viewed this as an opportunity to serve more of the community by
developing a quality senior housing facility. We have seen favorable
church growth but have peen hampered by lack of parking at crucial
times and no available overflow neighborhood parking. This is our only
opportunity for the senior housing development, future expansion and
additional parking.

We have worked very hard during the past many months to develop
plans that are both workable for the community and our needs. We have
met with the Planning Commission, the Park Board, and conducted focus
groups for the neighborhood. . Based upon the input we have made a
number of changes to improve the project and to answer objections.

We are now presenting our proposal. We feel that it serves a
need both within the greater Roseville community and for our church
community at Prince of Peace.

We request your acceptance of this proposal and invite anyone
with questions to visit the site at Prince of Peace.

Sincerely,

r ~q-L

Jean Knaak

Distribution: Roseville Planning Commission
Roseville City Council

A Congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
